Italian Family makes electronic music that sits somewhere between documentary, collage, and diary. The touchstone is Brian Eno's Music for Airports — the idea that music can reward patience instead of demanding attention.

The forthcoming EP comes out of three years of touring and travelling. Along the way, Italian Family recorded whatever caught their ear on an iPhone: a marching band in Hanoi, an air conditioning unit humming in a Polish concert hall, conversations picked up in passing. None of it was meant as field recording. It just became raw material.

From there, the recordings go through tape machines and modular synths, treated as physical material rather than digital files. Tape gets slowed down by hand. Signals get rerouted, restarted, left to drift. Each session throws up hours of material, which then gets cut down and pieced together into finished tracks — turning fragments that might otherwise get deleted into something that actually holds together.

The result sits in ambient and experimental electronic territory, melodic in places and abstract in others, shaped by a period of real change in Italian Family's life. The memories running through it aren't clean or complete. They're fragmented and re-shaped, the way memory actually works.

It's music that asks you to slow down rather than fill a room. Underneath the tape hiss and half-recognisable field recordings sits a simple idea: memories aren't perfect. They're incomplete, always shifting, and worth holding onto anyway.
